In the RG Kar hospital rape and murder case, the CBI has been given permission to conduct a narco test on the accused, Sanjay Rai. The court has approved this test after the CBI applied for the necessary permission at the Sealdah Court.
Why Does the CBI Want the Test?
The CBI wants to use the narco test to check if there is any consistency between what Sanjay Rai has said in narco and polygraph tests. They want to be sure of his involvement in the crime. The analysis will be done after getting opinions from experts and AIIMS.

What is a Narco Test?
In a narco test, certain drugs are administered to a person, making them partially unconscious. This procedure is used to extract hidden information from individuals who are unwilling to cooperate during regular questioning. It helps in solving complex cases and uncovering crucial clues.
Dental Evidence
Earlier, the CBI collected samples of Sanjay Rai’s dental impressions. Officials noted that bite marks were found on the victim’s body, as mentioned in the post-mortem report. They want to match these bite marks with Sanjay Rai’s dental samples.
