Today is a special day for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans. Exactly 14 years ago, on this day in 2010, MS Dhoni’s team achieved a historic victory by winning a major trophy. It was the same year that CSK won the IPL 2010 trophy and then went on to play in the Champions League Twenty20. Chennai Super Kings created history by winning the Champions League Twenty20 trophy as well.

Champions League T20 Final Held on September 26, 2010

The final match of the Champions League Twenty20 was held on September 26, 2010. In this match, CSK faced the Warriors. Chennai won the final, making it the first team ever to win both the IPL and the Champions League Twenty20 trophies in the same year. Murali Vijay was the top run-scorer of the tournament and was awarded Player of the Match in the final. Ravichandran Ashwin took the most wickets in the tournament and was named Player of the Tournament.

Highlights of the 2010 Champions League T20 Final

The Warriors won the toss and chose to bat first. They scored 128 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Davy Jacobs was the top scorer for the Warriors with 34 runs. For CSK, Muttiah Muralitharan took 3 wickets.

In response, CSK had a great start. Opener Michael Hussey remained unbeaten on 51, and Murali Vijay scored 58 runs. CSK reached the target, scoring 132 runs for 2 wickets in 19 overs, and won the final match.

CSK went on to win their second Champions League Twenty20 title in 2014, defeating Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
