The Karnataka government has instructed all schools, industries, and IT/BT companies to hoist the Karnataka flag on November 1 in celebration of Karnataka Rajyotsava Day. According to the order, both government and private schools must raise the state flag and organize cultural programs focused on Kannada to promote love and awareness for the language among students.
However, IT and BT companies are exempt from holding cultural programs, but they must display the Karnataka flag on their buildings. Additionally, these companies are required to submit photos of the flag-hoisting to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) as proof.

Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has urged all institutions, including IT companies, factories, and other establishments, to raise the Kannada flag. The government has been making continuous appeals to people and institutions, explaining the significance of Karnataka Rajyotsava. Why Karnataka Rajyotsava is Celebrated
Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar stated, “As the minister of Bengaluru, I appeal to all establishments, including IT companies and factories, to hoist the Kannada flag on November 1.” Karnataka was officially established on November 1, 1956, and this special day is known as ‘Rajyotsava.’ It is celebrated every year on November 1 to commemorate the formation of the Karnataka state after the merger of Kannada-speaking regions in South India.
