Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his birthday on September 17, and on this occasion, an e-auction of the gifts and souvenirs he has received started. The e-auction, which began on Tuesday, will continue until October 2, 2024. This year, around 600 items that PM Modi has received as gifts in the past year are being auctioned. These include a replica of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, along with many other souvenirs.

The auction includes a variety of traditional art items, such as paintings, intricate sculptures, indigenous handicrafts, and beautiful folk and tribal artworks. There are also traditional angavastrams (clothing), shawls, ceremonial swords, and other items that are symbols of respect and honor.

Anyone can participate in the e-auction by registering on the official website: https://pmmementos.gov.in/. Central Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat shared that more than 600 gifts and souvenirs are being auctioned online.

The lowest-priced items include cotton angavastrams, caps, and shawls, with a starting price of 600 rupees. As in previous years, the money raised from the auction will go towards the Namami Gange project, a key government initiative to protect and preserve the Ganga River and its delicate ecosystem.
Most Expensive Gifts
Some of the most expensive items include badminton rackets from Paralympic bronze medalist Nitya Shree Sivan and Sukant Kadam, as well as a discus from silver medalist Yogesh Kathuniya. These items have a base price of around 5.50 lakh rupees. Other notable items include signed shoes from Paralympic medalists Ajit Singh and Simran Sharma, and a signed cap from silver medalist Sharad Kumar, with a base price of around 2.86 lakh rupees.
Other high-value items include a replica of the Ram Temple priced at 5.50 lakh rupees, a statue of a peacock at 3.30 lakh rupees, a Ram Darbar statue at 2.76 lakh rupees, and a silver veena priced at 1.65 lakh rupees.
What’s Special About This Auction?
One special feature of this auction is that it celebrates India’s proud history by honoring the nation’s brave warriors and freedom fighters. It also includes sports memorabilia from the 2024 Paralympic Games, gifted to PM Modi by different medal winners.
Who Organizes the E-Auction?
According to Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, a government committee sets the base price for PM Modi’s gifts. Prices range from as low as 600 rupees to a maximum of 8.26 lakh rupees. The auction is open to the general public, allowing them to bid on gifts starting from 600 rupees up to around 8.26 lakh rupees.
On Monday, the Minister visited an exhibition of these gifts at the National Gallery of Modern Art. He remarked that this extraordinary collection of items gifted to PM Modi reflects the rich fabric of the country’s culture, history, politics, and spirituality.
