‘If These Claims Are False…’, Congress’ First Reaction to the Tirupati Laddu Controversy

A controversy has erupted across India regarding the use of poor-quality ingredients and alleged animal fat in the making of laddus at the famous Tirupati Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh. The TDP (Telugu Desam Party) has claimed that a livestock lab in Gujarat has confirmed the presence of animal fat in the laddu.

TDP spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy presented a lab report during a press conference. The report confirmed the presence of beef fat in the ghee samples. Now, the Congress party has issued a major statement on this issue.

Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera Speaks

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera stated, “If the claim of contamination in Tirupati laddus is true, then a full investigation must be conducted. The culprits should be identified and given the strictest punishment. But if the claims are false or motivated, then the millions of devotees of Tirupati will not forgive those who play with their faith. The BJP is advancing its agenda of polarization during the election season.”

‘Such Sins Should Not Happen Again in the Temple’

Raman Dixitulu, a former priest of the Tirumala Temple, commented on the controversy. He said, “The ghee used for making prasad contained many impurities, and its quality was poor. I noticed this many years ago and raised the issue with the concerned officials and the head of the temple’s trust board, but they did not care. It was a personal fight for me. Now, with the new government in power, they have promised to clean up the mess. They have already bought pure cow ghee from government dairies, and the food items are now being prepared using pure ghee. It should be ensured that such sins do not happen again in this sacred temple, where millions of devotees have deep faith and devotion.”

BJP Targets the Government

BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal commented on the controversy, saying, “The faith of the entire world is connected to Tirupati, and the prasad of the Tirupati Balaji Temple is sent to different corners of the world via post or courier. The irregularities that have come to light clearly show that Jagan Reddy and YSRCP have conspired to defame the faith of Hindus.”
