In the Kolkata rape and murder case linked to RG Kar College and Hospital, the Supreme Court gave a setback to the hospital’s former principal, Sandeep Ghosh. On Friday, September 6, 2024, the court dismissed his plea. Sandeep Ghosh had challenged the Calcutta High Court’s decision, which ordered a corruption investigation by the CBI without hearing his side. He argued that the High Court unnecessarily linked the rape incident to corruption in the hospital.
Ghosh’s lawyer requested the court to separate the corruption investigation related to biomedical waste from the rape and murder case. However, the Chief Justice stated that they would not interfere with how the CBI conducts its investigation. The Supreme Court also said that Ghosh was not eligible to be a party in this case.
New Evidence Found by CBI
Just a day before, on September 5, 2024, the CBI found important documents related to the case. These revealed that Sandeep Ghosh had ordered repairs in the hospital near the crime scene the day after the victim’s body was found on August 9, 2024.
