Noel Tata Becomes Chairman of Tata Trusts: Ratan Tata’s Legacy Passed On

Noel Tata has been appointed as the new chairman of Tata Trusts after the passing of the late Ratan Tata. Ratan Tata had been in charge of Tata Trusts since 1991, when he took over leadership of the Tata Group. Now, Tata Trusts have unanimously handed over the responsibility to Noel Tata, who is Ratan Tata’s stepbrother and has been associated with the Tata Group for over 40 years.

Already Active in Tata Trusts

Noel Tata has played a very active role in the functioning of Tata Trusts. He is currently a trustee of both the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, which are part of Tata Trusts. These trusts manage the philanthropic activities of the Tata Group. Additionally, Tata Trusts hold a 66% stake in Tata Sons, the parent company of the Tata Group.

Noel Tata’s Contributions to Tata Group Companies

Noel Tata is a member of the board of several Tata Group companies. He is also the chairman of Tata’s retail company Trent, Tata International Limited, and Tata Investment Corporation. He is the vice-chairman of Tata Steel and Titan. Under his leadership, Trent has achieved remarkable success, with its market capitalization reaching ₹2.93 lakh crore. Noel Tata was the managing director of Tata International Limited from August 2010 to November 2021, during which the company’s turnover grew from $500 million to $3 billion.
