Who Is Preeti Pal?
Indian para-athlete Preeti Pal made history at the Paris Paralympics by winning two medals. Recently, she completed a race in 30.01 seconds, earning her second medal. In the women’s T35 category 100 meters race, Preeti won a bronze medal with her personal best time of 14.21 seconds. Earlier, she had also won a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championship in May.
Preeti Pal’s Struggles
Preeti Pal’s life has been full of challenges. She hails from Muzaffarnagar district and her grandparents and relatives currently live in Kaseru Buxar village in Meerut district. Preeti’s grandfather, Rishipal Singh, who works in the Public Works Department in Meerut, shared that Preeti faced many difficulties growing up. When she was just six days old, her legs were put in plaster due to a problem. Until she was about eight years old, she went through a lot of hardships.

Preeti’s grandmother, Sarojdevi, explained that being from a village, they would take measures to protect Preeti during eclipses. They would sometimes bury half of her body in mud or cow dung to shield her from the perceived dangers.
Preeti’s journey from these early struggles to becoming a Paralympic champion is truly inspiring.
