Paris Paralympics 2024: Yogesh Kathuniya Wins Silver Medal in Discus Throw

India has won its 8th medal at the Paris Paralympics. Yogesh Kathuniya secured a silver medal in the men’s discus throw F56 event. His throws were as follows: first throw of 42.22 meters, second throw of 41.50 meters, third throw of 41.55 meters, fourth throw of 40.33 meters, and fifth throw of 40.89 meters. With this win, India is currently ranked 30th in the medal tally. So far, Indian athletes have won 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals.

Consecutive Silver Medals for Yogesh Kathuniya

On the fifth day of the Paris Paralympics, Yogesh Kathuniya made history by winning a silver medal. He had previously won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. By achieving silver medals in consecutive Paralympic Games, Kathuniya has reached a significant milestone.

Other Indian Medalists at the Paris Paralympics

Following Avni Lekhara’s gold medal in the R2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle (SH1) and Mona Agarwal’s bronze in the same event, Preeti Pal won India’s third medal. Mona Agarwal also won a medal in the Women’s 100 meters race (T35). Manish Narwal added the fourth medal with a silver in the 10m Air Pistol (SH1). Rubni Francis, Preeti Pal, Nishad Kumar, and Yogesh Kathuniya have contributed to India’s total medal count, with Yogesh winning the 8th medal.
