Praveen Kumar, former Indian fast bowler, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Senior Cricket Selection Committee. This decision has brought excitement not only to his hometown, Meerut, but also to cricket enthusiasts across Uttar Pradesh. Praveen retired from all forms of cricket in 2018, with his last international game for India played in 2012. Now, he has taken on the important task of developing the next generation of cricketers.

Praveen’s Statement After Becoming UPCA Chairman
Cricket fans in Meerut are thrilled with the decision of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). This decision will benefit young players who aspire to join the Indian team. Praveen plans to share his experiences from his time with the Indian cricket team with the domestic players. After his appointment, Praveen expressed his happiness and said he’s proud to take on the responsibility of guiding young cricketers toward success.

Praveen said that being chosen as Chairman is a matter of pride for him, and he is excited to provide a platform for new cricketers to reach new heights. He mentioned that just like him, many players from Meerut have made a name for themselves in global cricket. According to Praveen, there is no shortage of talent in Uttar Pradesh; players only need a good platform. He believes that with proper practice and dedication, success is achievable. Praveen aims to set up as many training camps as possible from district to state level, giving his full effort to polish young talent.

Praveen Kumar’s Career
Praveen made his debut for India in 2007 and especially shined in ODI cricket, where he took 77 wickets in 68 matches with his deadly swing. In addition, he took 27 wickets in 6 Test matches and 8 wickets in 10 T20 games. He also scored a half-century in ODI cricket.
