Rahul Dravid Returns to Rajasthan Royals as Head Coach for IPL 2025

Rahul Dravid is making a comeback with Rajasthan Royals after several years. According to reports, he has been appointed as the head coach for IPL 2025. Dravid has signed a deal with the team. He has a long history with Rajasthan Royals, having been their captain and later a mentor. After his stint with Rajasthan, Dravid joined Delhi Daredevils and recently helped India win the T20 World Cup 2024 as head coach.

As per Cricinfo, Dravid will play a crucial role during the mega auction. He has a strong relationship with the team and captain Sanju Samson, whom he has known since Samson’s Under-19 days.

Dravid’s Past with Rajasthan Royals

Dravid had a successful IPL career. He captained Rajasthan Royals in 2012 and 2013 and continued with the team as a mentor and director in 2014 and 2015. Afterward, he joined Delhi Daredevils in 2016 and later took on a key role with the Indian cricket team.

Dravid’s Coaching Achievements

After his IPL stint, Dravid became the head of the National Cricket Academy in 2019 and was appointed head coach of the Indian team in 2021. Under his coaching, India won the T20 World Cup in 2024.

Vikram Rathour Also Given a Key Role

Kumar Sangakkara remains the Director of Cricket for Rajasthan Royals. Dravid’s appointment is complemented by Vikram Rathour, who has been named the assistant coach. Reports confirm that Rathour has also signed a deal with the team.
