Date:

India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has secured his place in the men’s javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after finishing fifth in the qualification round held at Scotstoun Stadium on Thursday, July 30.

Neeraj was joined by fellow Indian athletes Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh, with all three successfully qualifying for the medal round. The men’s javelin final is scheduled to take place on August 1 (IST).

The two-time Olympic medallist is aiming to win his second Commonwealth Games gold medal. Neeraj first claimed the title at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, but was forced to miss the Birmingham 2022 Games due to an injury.

The men’s javelin event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 is being held in two phases. The qualification round determined the finalists on July 30, while the medal-winning performances will be decided in the final on August 1.

Neeraj Chopra will now look to add another major international title to his impressive career as India hopes for another podium finish in Glasgow.
