Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Accused Sanjay Roy Sent to 14 Days Judicial Custody

In the case of the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, accused Sanjay Roy has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody by the Sialdah Court in Kolkata. The doctor’s body was found in the hospital’s seminar room on August 9. The Kolkata police arrested Roy the next day. However, following the Calcutta High Court’s order, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation from the Kolkata police last week. Sanjay Roy has confessed to the rape and murder.

Polygraph Test Decision Pending

The Sialdah Court in Kolkata is expected to decide on Sanjay Roy’s polygraph test today. A decision on the test is anticipated before 5:30 PM. The Supreme Court has instructed the Kolkata court to make a decision on the CBI’s request for the polygraph test by this evening.

Brutality Against the Female Doctor

The post-mortem report revealed that the female doctor had 16 external and nine internal injuries. All these injuries were inflicted before her death, including wounds to the muscles of the head, neck, and other parts of her body. The report also indicated that she was sexually assaulted.

Who is Sanjay Roy?

Sanjay Roy has been married three times. Two of his wives left him, and one died of cancer. According to his mother, Sanjay spent all his money trying to save his wife, but was unable to save her.
