An International Exhibition-cum-Convention Center with world-class facilities will be built in Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given his approval in principle for this project. On Wednesday evening, during a meeting with senior officials, CM Yogi discussed the design, construction process, costs, and other aspects of the proposed center. He emphasized that there is a need for a high-tech, world-class convention and exhibition center in Lucknow to host national and international events.
CM Yogi said that the construction of this center will be carried out by the Housing Development Board and LDA (Lucknow Development Authority), with financial assistance from the state government. He set a time frame of two years for the completion of the construction. The CM also mentioned that the center should be multi-functional, where large cultural, political, state, and religious events, as well as music concerts, can be held in a grand manner.
“Should Host Fairs and Exhibitions”
He added that the exhibition center should be capable of hosting all kinds of fairs and exhibitions and should include an open theater. Additionally, land should be reserved nearby for the hotel industry, and the building’s architecture should reflect Indian culture. The center should also showcase water and energy conservation. CM Yogi suggested that the center should highlight Uttar Pradesh’s ODOP (One District One Product) items, local food, folk art, and folk music. Facilities like large parking areas for vehicles, fire safety, restrooms, and food courts should also be available.

Officials informed the CM that there is 32 acres of land available in the Vrindavan Yojna area, where the 2020 Defense Expo was held. This location has good connectivity from all sides and is suitable for the construction. The convention center will have a capacity of around 10,000 people, with multiple auditoriums, meeting rooms, and a VIP lounge. A special “Panch Vatika,” representing the five elements, will be a key attraction in the large complex.
