PM Modi Reiterates Call for Dialogue and Diplomacy Amid Ukraine War, Strengthens Ties with Austria
PM Modi stated that he and Chancellor Nehammer discussed new possibilities for strengthening ties between the two countries, particularly in sectors such as infrastructure development, renewable energy, hydrogen, water and waste management, and artificial intelligence. He highlighted the significance of the visit, noting that it was the first time an Indian Prime Minister had visited Austria in 41 years.
Regarding the Ukraine war, PM Modi expressed his condemnation of the killing of innocent people and emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict. He also discussed the situation in West Asia with Chancellor Nehammer.
Both leaders strongly condemned terrorism and agreed that it cannot be justified in any way. PM Modi also invited Austria to join India’s initiatives on climate change, including the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, and Bio-Fuel Alliance.
Chancellor Nehammer acknowledged India’s unique position in the global south and praised its role as a founding member of the BRICS nations. He expressed appreciation for India’s participation in the Swiss Peace Summit and discussed the possibilities of reviving the peace process. Nehammer also emphasized the importance of India’s assessment of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and European concerns and worries.
The meeting between PM Modi and Chancellor Nehammer marked a significant step in strengthening ties between India and Austria, with a focus on cooperation in various sectors and a shared commitment to promoting peace and stability in the world.
