Hathras Stampede: 6 Arrested, Reward Announced for Main Accused
Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the Hathras stampede that resulted in 121 deaths, according to Inspector General (IG) Shalabh Mathur of the Aligarh Range.
During a press conference, Mathur stated that the police will issue a non-bailable warrant against chief sevadar Devprakash Madhukar and announced a reward of ₹1 lakh for his arrest. “When the stampede occurred, the six servitors who are now arrested had fled the scene. We are offering a ₹1 lakh reward for the arrest of the main accused, Prakash Madhukar. A non-bailable warrant will be issued against him soon. We will also investigate whether this incident was the result of a conspiracy,” Mathur said.
The authorities are also investigating ‘Bhole Baba’, who is not mentioned in the FIR but is under scrutiny. The police are gathering details about Narayan Sakaar Hari’s history. “We are inquiring about ‘Bhole Baba’s’ criminal history. Permission for the event was not taken in his name,” Mathur added. If necessary, authorities may interrogate ‘Bhole Baba’ as part of their investigation.
