The IPL 2025 season is still some time away, but teams are already preparing for it. On August 28, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) announced their new mentor: former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan.

Before the 2025 IPL season, LSG has solved one issue by appointing a mentor, but the captaincy issue remains unresolved. KL Rahul has been the captain for the last three seasons, but the team’s performance under him has not been impressive. This is why the franchise is considering moving on from him for the next season.

Additionally, Rohit Sharma, who had his captaincy taken away by Mumbai Indians last season, is not very happy. During a match, Rohit was seen talking to LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, leading to speculations that he might join LSG in the upcoming season.

Recently, there have been rumors that if Rohit Sharma is in the auction, LSG might bid 50 crores to acquire him. Sanjiv Goenka addressed these rumors.

In an interview with ‘Sports Tak’, Goenka said, “Does anyone know if Rohit Sharma will be in the auction? These are just speculations. We don’t even know if Mumbai Indians will release him.”

He continued, “Even if he is in the auction, you can’t spend 50% of your salary cap on just one player. How would you manage the remaining 22 players?”

Goenka also pointed out, “Everyone wants to buy star players, but other teams also have their eyes on them. They also want to include these players in their teams.”
