As the bypolls for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh approach, political parties like BJP, Samajwadi Party, and Congress have started their preparations, even though the dates have not been announced yet. Meanwhile, Sanjay Nishad, the leader of the BJP’s ally Nishad Party, has surprised everyone with his recent statement. He announced that his party will field candidates on its own symbol for two seats in the upcoming bypolls. Let’s find out what he said.

Why Nishad Party Will Contest on Its Own Symbol:

Sanjay Nishad, who is a minister in the UP government, explained the reason behind this decision. His son, Praveen Nishad, contested the last Lok Sabha election from Sant Kabir Nagar on a BJP ticket but lost. Sanjay Nishad blamed the loss on the BJP symbol. He believes that Praveen Nishad would have won if he had contested on the Nishad Party symbol.

Nishad Party to Field Candidates on Two Seats:

Sanjay Nishad mentioned that in the last Lok Sabha election, the Nishad Party did not contest on its own symbol, but two of its candidates ran on BJP tickets. Vinod Bind, a Nishad Party MLA, contested from Bhadohi, while Praveen Nishad ran from Sant Kabir Nagar. Praveen Nishad had won the Sant Kabir Nagar seat in 2019, but this time he lost, while Vinod Bind won in Bhadohi.

Sanjay Nishad emphasized that the Nishad Party lost in several places because they didn’t contest on their own symbol. To avoid repeating this mistake, the party has decided to contest the upcoming bypolls on its own symbol on two seats. He added that 578 castes did not vote for the BJP symbol and hinted that BJP should consider this carefully to avoid consequences in the future.

Nishad Party’s History:

It’s worth noting that in the 2022 assembly elections, the Nishad Party contested on its own symbol in the Kathehri (Ambedkar Nagar district) and Majhwan (Mirzapur district) seats. In the upcoming bypolls, the Nishad Party will again field candidates on its symbol on these two seats.
