Mumbai: Ranveer Singh has officially started filming his upcoming action thriller Pralay. The much-awaited project went on floors in Mumbai on Sunday, August 16, with the makers planning a large-scale theatrical release.
Produced by Birla Studios, True Story Films and Maa Kasam Films, Pralay is being described as an end-of-the-world survival thriller. Ranveer will headline the film and is also associated with its production.
Ranveer Singh Leads a Survival Story
While the makers have kept the main storyline under wraps, Pralay is set against the backdrop of a devastating crisis that threatens the survival of people in Mumbai. The film is expected to combine intense action with a gripping survival narrative.
The production team has reportedly spent several months working on the technical aspects of the project before beginning the shoot. The film will be shot across real locations in Mumbai and nearby areas to give the story a more realistic feel.
Kalyani Priyadarshan Joins Ranveer Singh
Malayalam actor Kalyani Priyadarshan, who recently gained wider attention with Lokah, has joined the cast of Pralay. Her collaboration with Ranveer Singh is among the film’s key attractions.
The movie is directed by Jai Mehta, who has worked on projects including Lootere and Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, which he co-directed with Hansal Mehta.
Pralay Follows Dhurandhar Success
Pralay marks Ranveer Singh’s next major project after the success of Dhurandhar and its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Both films became major theatrical successes and further strengthened Ranveer’s position as one of Bollywood’s leading action stars.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar featured Ranveer alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal. The sequel continued the story and expanded the scale of the action franchise.
With Pralay, Ranveer is now moving into a completely different kind of high-stakes action world. Although the makers have not revealed many details yet, the combination of a Mumbai-based survival story, large-scale action and an ensemble cast has already created curiosity among moviegoers.
