Former David Warner and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner has once again grabbed attention on social media after revealing that the IPL franchise still appears to have him blocked on Instagram.
Warner shared a screenshot of SRH’s Instagram profile on his story, where the account appeared as a “private” profile from his side — something users typically see when they are blocked by an account. The post quickly went viral among cricket fans, reigniting discussions around Warner’s strained relationship with the Hyderabad-based franchise.
Later, a fan commented on Warner’s latest Instagram post and tagged SRH, asking the franchise to “unblock” the Australian star. Responding to the comment, Warner wrote, “they would never unblock me,” a reply that immediately sparked reactions across social media platforms.
David Warner And SRH: From IPL Glory To Public Fallout
David Warner’s journey with Sunrisers Hyderabad remains one of the most memorable chapters in IPL history. The explosive left-handed opener joined the franchise in 2014 and soon became the backbone of their batting lineup.
In 2015, Warner was appointed captain, and just a year later he guided SRH to their maiden IPL title in 2016. That season, Warner delivered several match-winning performances and finished among the tournament’s highest run-scorers.
At a time when SRH lacked the batting depth they enjoy today, the team heavily depended on Warner’s aggressive starts along with a disciplined bowling attack that regularly defended modest totals.
Over the years, Warner established himself as the most successful batter in the franchise’s history. He also won the prestigious Orange Cap three times — in 2015, 2017, and 2019 — making him one of the greatest overseas players in IPL history.
What Went Wrong Between David Warner And SRH?
Despite years of success, the relationship between Warner and the Sunrisers Hyderabad management deteriorated dramatically during the 2021 IPL season.
After a series of poor performances and consecutive defeats, SRH removed Warner from captaincy midway through the tournament. Soon after, he was also dropped from the playing XI, a move that shocked fans across the cricket world.
The fallout became increasingly public during the UAE leg of IPL 2021, where Warner was often seen sitting in the stands instead of alongside teammates in the dugout. Images from that period fueled speculation about serious tensions between the player and franchise management.
Eventually, the partnership officially ended before the IPL 2022 mega auction when SRH released the Australian batter from their squad.
Warner Continues Playing Franchise Cricket Around The World
Although Warner has not featured in the IPL since 2024, he remains active in T20 leagues across the globe. The veteran opener recently participated in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and continues to play franchise cricket in different countries.
Even years after leaving Sunrisers Hyderabad, Warner’s latest Instagram revelation shows that the relationship between the IPL-winning captain and his former franchise may still not be fully repaired.
