In the race for the U.S. presidency, Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform ‘X’, has often shown support for Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump. Now, this support seems to go both ways. Donald Trump has also shown admiration for Elon Musk. According to Reuters, Trump announced that if he wins the upcoming election in November, he would give Elon Musk a role in his Cabinet or make him an advisor in the White House.

Trump’s statement came shortly after Elon Musk interviewed him. According to the Washington Post, Musk previously mentioned that he supported Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Since an attack at one of Trump’s rallies, Musk has been supporting Trump. Shortly after the attack, Musk posted on social media, saying, “I support Trump and pray for his speedy recovery.”

Good News for Tesla

Trump told Reuters that while he is not generally in favor of tax breaks and credits, he clarified that he might reduce the $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit, which Biden had increased. He said, “I am a big fan of gasoline-powered cars, as well as hybrid cars, and everything that comes with them.” However, Trump also expressed his appreciation for electric vehicles. If Trump comes to power, it could bring good news for Elon Musk’s electric car manufacturing company, Tesla.

Will Musk Accept the Offer?

Earlier this year, in a post on social media platform X, Musk denied that he had discussed becoming a White House advisor with Trump. He said that there had been no talks about a role for him in Trump’s administration. However, Trump hinted that he might be ready to include Musk in his administration during their live chat on Twitter last week.
