Hey Balwanth is a Telugu comedy-drama film released on February 20, 2026, starring Suhas in the lead role alongside V.K. Naresh and Shivani Nagaram. Directed by Gopi Atchara, it blends humor, family emotions, and a sensitive premise about a shocking family business secret.
Plot Summary
Krishna (Suhas), an unambitious young man, returns home expecting to inherit his father Rao Balwanth’s (V.K. Naresh) mysterious business and falls for NGO worker Mithra (Shivani Nagaram). When Balwanth falls ill, Krishna discovers the family lodge is involved in prostitution, leading to shock, attempts to sell it, and complications with politicians and Mithra’s family. The story unfolds with comedic hiding efforts, emotional father-son confrontations, and a twist involving Mithra’s grandfather.
Cast Performances
Suhas delivers natural comic timing and sincere emotions, making his character relatable in both laughs and drama. V.K. Naresh shines as the father, providing the emotional core with mature depth in key scenes. Supporting roles like Sudarshan for energetic humor, Vennela Kishore for comic relief, and Shivani Nagaram as the grounded love interest add balance, though her part feels limited.
Strengths
- First-half comedy, especially liquor shop talks and interval block, generates solid laughs.
- Emotional father-son climax touches hearts without vulgarity on the sensitive topic.
- Clean family entertainer tone with decent songs and background score.
Weaknesses
- Second half drags with tonal shifts into politics and crime, losing grip.
- Stretched scenes and underdeveloped emotional arcs reduce impact.
- Logic gaps if overthought, making it better as light time-pass.
Ratings Overview
Hey Balwanth works as a decent one-time watch for Suhas fans seeking comedy with heart, but uneven pacing holds it back from greatness.
