Medhavi Bidhuri 6-7 Celebration Goes Viral: Who Is the Delhi Cricketer?

Date:

Medhavi Bidhuri has quickly become one of the talking points of the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026, but not just because of her bowling. The young Delhi leg-spinner grabbed attention after introducing a unique “6-7” celebration during the opening match of the tournament.

Playing for Central Delhi Queens, Bidhuri dismissed South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh in the 16th over. Arushi Goel completed the catch at mid-wicket, after which Bidhuri celebrated with the now-viral 6-7 hand gesture.

The celebration soon spread across social media, with cricket fans praising the youngster for her confidence and personality on the field.

Why Does Medhavi Bidhuri Wear Jersey No. 67?

There is an interesting story behind Bidhuri’s jersey number.

The cricketer originally wanted to wear No. 12, but the number was already taken. She eventually chose 67 for the tournament, which later became closely linked to her celebration.

After the match, Bidhuri explained that the “6-7” trend had caught attention and that her younger sister, whom she described as being like a brother to her, encouraged her to wear the No. 67 jersey and make the gesture her signature celebration.

Medhavi Bidhuri’s Cricket Journey

Bidhuri’s rise has been gradual. She has been part of Delhi’s domestic cricket setup for several years and has represented the state at the Under-19 level.

She has also made an impact in the Delhi Premier League. During the 2025 season, she represented South Delhi Superstarz and produced an impressive performance in the final against Central Delhi Queens.

Bidhuri finished that match with figures of 3 wickets for 26 runs, although South Delhi Superstarz narrowly won the final by just one run.

Her performances have also earned her recognition at a higher level. She was among the players who featured in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction.

Yuzvendra Chahal Joins the 6-7 Celebration

Bidhuri’s celebration received an unexpected boost when veteran Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal recreated the gesture.

During Northamptonshire’s County Championship match against Lancashire at Old Trafford in Manchester, Chahal dismissed Lancashire batter Joe Moores. He then celebrated the wicket with a version of the same viral 6-7 gesture.

The moment added another layer of attention to Bidhuri’s celebration and helped push the trend beyond the Women’s Delhi Premier League.

Why Medhavi Bidhuri Is Trending

While the 6-7 celebration has made Bidhuri a social media talking point, her cricketing record is what makes her an interesting player to watch.

A right-arm leg-spinner with experience in Delhi’s domestic system, Bidhuri has already shown that she can perform under pressure. Her strong outing in the 2025 Delhi Premier League final and her continued presence in the 2026 tournament highlight her progress.

With her bowling performances and distinctive celebration now attracting attention, Medhavi Bidhuri could be one of the emerging names to watch in Delhi women’s cricket.
