When the basement of coaching institute Drishti IAS was sealed in Mukherjee Nagar on Monday, people asked questions to its founder and celebrity teacher Vikas Divyakirti on social media. Surrounded by questions, Divyakirti presented his side and said, this problem related to coaching institutes is not as simple as it appears from the surface. The government should implement guidelines for coaching institutes. But Divyakirti was once again surrounded by questions on this answer. When we talked to the students, they asked that Divyakirti told the responsibility of the government, but forgot to tell his own responsibility.
UPSC coaching incident: What students asked Vikas Divyakirti
Rakesh Ranjan, a Hindi medium student who has been preparing for the UPSC coaching centre for a long time in Mukherjee Nagar, said, Divyakirti blamed the government and agencies and left. He did not explain even once what his responsibility is. He is the guardian of the students studying with him. His explanation is nothing more than a theoretical speech.
Om Agrawal, who is preparing for UPSC, says that Vikas Divyakirti has said in the very first point of his statement that we have been late in presenting our side. He is like a guardian to us and he is our role model. He is never late in telling whose government will be formed in which state? What is happening in America and what is happening in Russia? Does eating cause diabetes? But after the death of three children, it took him four days to issue his statement. Even in this, he did not tell what the owners of coaching institutes should do to prevent such incidents in future?
Dinesh Yadav, a resident of Jaunpur, says that he spoke about the government, but avoided speaking on his own responsibility. Preeti Yadav, a student from Azamgarh, said, Divyakirti has said that the anger of the students is justified. If he had been with us from the first day, then we would have believed that he is with us. Forget standing with us, it took him four days to even present his side. In the last point of his statement, he has said that if our team has made any mistake, then we again express regret for that. Instead of keeping himself at the center of responsibility, he has kept his team at the center. Whereas in his institute, students come to take admission in his name.
What did Divyakirti say in her defence
An accident happened in the basement of Rao IAS Coaching Institute in Old Rajendra Nagar on 27th July and three students died. The death of the students revealed the real picture of coaching institutes. When people got angry, action was taken against coaching institutes. Many basements were sealed. During the same time, the basement of Divyakirti’s coaching was also sealed. Now Divyakirti has put forth her point in 10 points.
Expressing regret for the delay in presenting their side, they have also apologized. Divyakirti said, we are with the affected families. If we can do something for them in any way, we will feel grateful. Except ‘Delhi Master Plan-2021’, no document has given clear provisions for coaching institutes. The permanent solution to this problem is that the government should select three-four areas in Delhi and designate them for coaching institutes. If the government itself prepares class rooms, libraries, hostels, then there will be no problem of high rent nor security related issues.
