The Israeli government has not yet said anything about the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyya in Iran’s capital Tehran. Israel has not taken responsibility for this attack and its leaders have maintained silence, but one leader of the country has spoken openly about this incident. Israeli minister Amichai Eliyahu has said that it is a good thing if bad people are being eliminated from the earth. We should be happy about Ismail Haniyya’s death. Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu is the first senior Israeli government official to react to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyya in Tehran.

Reacting to Haniya’s death in a post on X, Amichai wrote, ‘This is the right way to clean the world from this filth.’ Israel has not officially commented on Haniya’s death. Israeli media has also claimed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered his ministers to remain silent on Haniya’s murder. Despite this, Eliyahu has reacted.

Minister hints at Israel’s hand behind the murder
Eliyahu, a member of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s far-right Otzma Yehudit party, has also said that Israel is behind Haniya’s murder. He wrote in his post, ‘Now there will be no compromise for imaginary peace and no mercy will be shown to these devils. Haniya’s death will make the world a slightly better place.’ This post is being seen as an admission of Israel’s involvement in the murder.

Hamas has blamed Israel’s air strike for the death of its political bureau chief. Hamas has said, ‘Haniya has been killed in Israel’s air strike on his residence in Tehran. We declare brother Ismail Haniyya a martyr for the Palestinians, people of Islamic countries and freedom seekers all over the world.’ Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank has condemned the attack on Ismail Haniyya and called it a cowardly act.
