Right now, there’s a lot of political discussion about the categorization of SC-ST reservations and the creamy layer issue. Amidst this, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has made her stance clear and issued a warning to her party leaders and workers. She stated that those who support the categorization of SC/ST reservations and the creamy layer concept, similar to the Congress Party, have no place in the BSP.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mayawati wrote: “The issue of SC/ST reservation categorization and the creamy layer is divisive. The BSP’s mission is to unite these oppressed communities into a ‘Bahujan Samaj,’ and we will not compromise on this. The party is very serious about this issue.”

She further added, “The politics of dividing SC and ST communities, as seen in states like Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu before the Supreme Court’s decision, is not acceptable. Especially the Congress-led governments’ stance on this matter is highly condemnable. Those in the BSP who support categorization and the creamy layer concept like Congress, and do not uphold Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s mission, have no place in the BSP. We cannot ignore the larger interest of the Bahujan Samaj for the sake of individual gains.”

Divide and Rule Strategy Won’t Work – Mayawati

Mayawati emphasized, “If people with such a mindset leave the party or are removed, it will be beneficial for the BSP and its movement. Moreover, Congress’s ‘divide and rule’ strategy, under the guise of the INDIA alliance, will not succeed. People must stay alert.”
