Shopkeepers Name Plate Issue:
BJP MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah from Jangpura has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta demanding that shopkeepers in Delhi should put up nameplates outside their shops. According to Marwah, this will help customers make informed choices when they shop.
Why is the Nameplate Important?
In his letter, Marwah mentioned that as Navratri and Eid are approaching, it is important to ensure that festivals are celebrated with mutual respect and harmony. He requested the Delhi government to issue guidelines making it mandatory for shopkeepers to display their names in front of their establishments.
Marwah said, “This step will help citizens make informed choices when buying sacred items, preserving the sanctity of their rituals and beliefs. It will promote transparency and communal harmony. Your intervention will help celebrate festivals peacefully and avoid misunderstandings.”
Marwah’s Statement to ABP News
Speaking to ABP News, Marwah explained that he had received complaints from people who were uncomfortable when they entered shops expecting one type of product but found non-vegetarian items inside. He believes that displaying shopkeepers’ names would help people make better choices.
Marwah also stated that he plans to raise this issue in the Assembly during the remaining two days of the session. He emphasized that shopkeepers should display their names throughout the year, not just during festivals.
This demand aims to maintain transparency and avoid confusion for customers while promoting communal harmony in the city.
