Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir: Four Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, including an officer, were killed after a colleague allegedly opened fire at a CISF camp in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening.
According to sources, the incident took place at around 6:40 pm at the CISF unit deployed at the Sewa Power Project in Mashka village, Basohli. The project is a hydroelectric power station located along the Sewa River.
Four CISF Personnel Killed
The deceased personnel have been identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh, Constable Rafiq Ahmed and Constable Sandeep Kumar.
Sources said the firing followed an argument between the personnel. The accused allegedly entered an office area and opened fire with his service weapon.
The CISF identified the suspected shooter as Head Constable Avdesh Kumar Singh. According to officials, he was carrying an issued AK-47 rifle along with around 150 rounds of ammunition.
Injured Personnel Later Died
Following the shooting, the injured personnel were rushed to an NHPC hospital in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh for treatment. However, all four later succumbed to their injuries.
Police teams reached the location soon after the incident and secured the area. The accused head constable was arrested and handed over to the police.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have started an investigation to determine what led to the firing and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident has raised serious concerns within the security establishment, with officials examining the sequence of events and the circumstances that preceded the shooting.
