Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging young people to stay away from drugs and contribute to the vision of a developed India.

Drug-Free Youth Essential for Viksit Bharat: PM Modi
While addressing the nation virtually, Prime Minister Modi said that India’s dream of becoming a developed nation can only be achieved if its youth remain physically healthy, mentally strong, and free from substance abuse.
He urged young people to take a pledge against drug addiction, saying that while drugs may provide temporary pleasure, they ultimately destroy careers, relationships, and future opportunities.
According to the Prime Minister, addiction affects not only individuals but also causes immense suffering to their families and society as a whole.
Society Should Support Recovering Addicts
PM Modi emphasized that people who successfully overcome addiction deserve respect rather than social stigma.
He said recovering addicts are fighters who should be welcomed back into society and given opportunities to rebuild their lives. Families were also encouraged not to hide cases of addiction due to social pressure but instead seek medical treatment and professional counselling.
Strict Action Against Drug Traffickers
The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking across India. He stated that enforcement agencies have significantly increased arrests and seized narcotics worth thousands of crores of rupees.
He also alleged that hostile forces use drug trafficking as a strategy to weaken India’s youth and harm the nation’s future, making the fight against drugs a matter of national importance.
