On Saturday, Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat joined the farmers’ protest at the Shambhu border. As the protest reaches its 200th day, there are rumors that Vinesh Phogat might soon enter politics. But how true are these rumors? Is Vinesh really planning to join politics? Vinesh joined the protest in support of farmers demanding a minimum support price from the government.
‘I Don’t Want to Talk About This…’
When Vinesh Phogat was asked if she plans to join politics and whether she would run for election if Congress offers her a seat from Haryana, she responded, “I don’t want to talk about this. I am here to meet my family members (farmers), and if you twist this, it will ruin their struggle and fight.” She emphasized that the focus should be on the farmers, not on her. She said, “I am an athlete and an Indian citizen. Elections don’t matter to me; my goal is the welfare of the farmers.”

‘Farmers’ Demands Are Justified Because I Am a Farmer…’
Vinesh Phogat further added that when people raise issues, they shouldn’t be seen through the lens of politics, religion, or community. “The government should listen to our family (farmers). They have the right to speak and express their thoughts,” she said. Vinesh also mentioned that the farmers’ demands are justified because she comes from a farming background and understands how her mother raised her.
