The Escape Attempt: As the visiting hours ended at the prison, a young girl with long black hair was seen leaving. The guards noticed something suspicious and stopped her. To their surprise, the girl was not a girl at all but a well-known drug trafficker trying to escape.
The Prisoner’s Plan: The prisoner, named Clauvino da Silva, was sentenced to 73 years and 10 months in prison. He planned to escape by disguising himself as his 19-year-old daughter. His strategy was to switch places with his daughter, leaving her behind in prison while he made his escape.
How He Was Caught: Da Silva’s plan might have succeeded if he hadn’t shown signs of nervousness. The guards became suspicious when they saw his anxious demeanor. They investigated and discovered his true identity. Da Silva had used a silicone mask to look like a woman and wore a pink T-shirt with donuts on it.
Revealing the Truth: When Da Silva removed his mask and wig, he revealed himself as a 40-year-old man. His real name was Da Silva, also known as “Baxinho,” a leader of the Red Command, one of Brazil’s most powerful criminal gangs.
Further Investigation: It is unclear whether Da Silva’s daughter was aware of his plan. Authorities also questioned seven others who had visited him. There was suspicion that one of these visitors might have helped him by smuggling the disguise into the prison.
Previous Escape Attempt: This was not Da Silva’s first escape attempt. In 2013, he escaped from a different prison with around 30 other inmates through the sewer system, but they were caught.
