Political parties are working hard to strengthen their positions for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. On Thursday, Congress and the National Conference announced that they will contest the elections together. After meeting Rahul Gandhi, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah confirmed that they will fight the elections together, and the seat-sharing details will be decided later.
Will There Be an Alliance with PDP?
When asked if there might be an alliance with the PDP, Farooq Abdullah replied, “No doors are closed for anyone.” He added, “We will first see how the elections go and then consider such things. We have not closed the door for anyone.”
On the Alliance with Congress:
Regarding the minimum common program after the alliance with Congress, Farooq Abdullah said, “Our shared program is to fight the elections and defeat divisive forces in the country. We will address other issues later.”
Rahul Gandhi’s Comments:
Earlier, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi told party workers in Srinagar that representing Jammu and Kashmir and restoring its statehood is very important. He mentioned his deep connection to the region and expressed hope that people will support their efforts in the elections.
