Saurabh Bharadwaj Accuses LG Vinai Saxena of Mismanagement in Delhi

0

On Tuesday, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized LG Vinai Saxena for mismanagement in various departments, including health services. Bharadwaj claimed that whenever a major issue arises in Delhi, the LG, appointed by the BJP, is blamed. He said that the Raj Niwas (LG’s office) responds with misleading statements.

Accusations Against LG

Bharadwaj stated that the LG is responsible for every crisis in Delhi. He provided two examples to explain this:

  1. Asha Kiran Shelter Home Deaths: Recently, 14 people died at the Asha Kiran shelter home. BJP and other leaders blamed the Delhi government for this. An investigation revealed that there was a severe shortage of doctors and staff at the shelter, which falls under the Social Welfare Department, managed by the Delhi government. However, the responsibility for appointing and transferring doctors lies with the LG, as this is related to the Service Department under the LG’s control. The LG’s office claimed that vacancies were due to the NCCSA (National Capital Civil Services Authority) not meeting. This shows that the Service Department under the LG did not perform its duties, yet the LG’s office provided false information.
  2. Shortage of Doctors in Government Hospitals: Bharadwaj also mentioned that there is a shortage of doctors in Delhi’s government hospitals. New hospitals are being built, but doctors and staff are not being appointed. Each Medical Superintendent (MS) is managing two or three hospitals, leading to overwork and poor management. Bharadwaj criticized the LG for giving nonsensical reasons for the issues, saying the LG blames the lack of NCCSA meetings for the problems.

Current Situation in Hospitals

The situation in Delhi’s hospitals is dire. Many hospitals have up to 30% of doctor positions vacant, and there is a significant shortage of paramedical and nursing staff.

India Develops First RT-PCR Kit for Monkeypox Testing

0

The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed serious concern about monkeypox and declared it a global emergency. The new strain of this virus, Clade-1, is considered more contagious and has a higher death rate. To combat this, India has developed its own RT-PCR test kit for monkeypox, which has been approved by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO).

India’s New RT-PCR Test Kit

Siemens Healthineers has received approval from CDSCO for the IMDX Monkeypox Detection RT-PCR kit. This achievement is significant for India’s “Make in India” initiative and represents a crucial step in fighting the monkeypox public health emergency.

The IMDX Monkeypox Detection RT-PCR kit will be manufactured at Siemens’ molecular diagnostics unit in Vadodara, which has the capacity to produce 1 million reactions per year. The factory is fully prepared to supply the kits.

Detects Both Clade I and Clade II Strains

The IMDX Monkeypox Detection RT-PCR kit is a sophisticated molecular diagnostic test that checks two different regions of the viral genome. This allows it to detect both Clade I and Clade II strains of the virus, ensuring thorough identification across various viral strains.

This PCR kit is designed to fit seamlessly into existing lab workflows, eliminating the need for additional machines. It will make use of current COVID testing infrastructure, enhancing efficiency.

Results in 40 Minutes

According to Siemens Healthcare Private Limited, results from this kit will be available within 40 minutes. In contrast, results from older kits typically take 1-2 hours. The IMDX Monkeypox RT-PCR test kit, validated by the ICMR-National Institute of Virology in Pune, claims 100% sensitivity and specificity. It adheres to Indian regulatory guidelines and meets the highest global standards.

UPSC Exam: What Age Do Most Youngsters Become IAS? How Many Attempts Are Most Successful?

0

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is responsible for recruiting officers for All India Services and Central Civil Services through exams. Every year, UPSC conducts various recruitments, with millions of candidates participating. The UPSC Civil Services Exam is known for being one of the toughest exams in the world. Recently, UPSC released a report for the 2022-23 recruitment year, showing which age group most often becomes IAS officers, how many attempts are usually successful, and the success rates for men and women.

Success Rate in First Attempt

According to the report, only about 8% of candidates succeed in their first attempt at the IAS exam. Candidates who do not succeed often either prepare for another attempt or decide to abandon their efforts.

Age Group of Successful IAS Candidates

The report reveals that most candidates who pass the Civil Services Exam are between 24 and 26 years old. The success rate for men in this age group is 29.4%, while for women it is 33.3%. For candidates older than 30, the success rate drops to 14.6% for men and 12.5% for women.

Most Successful Attempt

Statistics show that candidates who attempt the exam for the third time are the most successful. Experts believe this is because, by the third attempt, candidates are familiar with the exam pattern, types of questions, difficulty level, and syllabus, making it easier to pass.

In summary, while the first attempt success rate is low, most candidates who succeed are in the 24-26 age group. The third attempt often brings the best chance of success.

German Federal Development Minister Svenja Schulze initially refused to meet Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. However, after some negotiation, she agreed to attend the meeting.

Schulze and her officials arrived at the Prime Minister’s residence for the meeting. Pakistani officials stopped them for a security check and refused to allow their bags inside. Schulze and her team were unhappy with this and began heading back to their car.

Seeing this, Pakistani officials quickly persuaded Schulze to stay and allowed her to bring the bags into the meeting. A video of this incident has gone viral on social media, with many people criticizing Pakistan for its handling of the situation.

In the viral video, during the security check at the PM House entrance, Schulze was told to leave her bag behind for inspection. She refused and protested, leading the security personnel to say, “This is protocol.” Schulze did not agree and moved towards her car. An officer with her then said, “Okay, thank you,” prompting the security to drop the bag check and allow Schulze to bring her bag into the meeting. She participated in the meeting with her bag present.

Social media users are calling this incident an embarrassment for Pakistan and questioning its hospitality. One user commented that if the meeting had been canceled, Pakistan would have been left empty-handed.

Maharashtra CM Candidate: Will Congress or Uddhav Faction Be the Choice for MVA? Sharad Pawar Gives Clues

0

As the Shiv Sena (UBT) pressures the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to declare a chief ministerial candidate, Sharad Pawar, president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), stated that no leader from his party is interested in the CM position. Instead, the NCP is focused on changing the state government.

Sharad Pawar’s Statement

Pawar mentioned that a meeting will be held on August 27 to discuss seat-sharing among MVA allies for the upcoming assembly elections. This meeting was initially scheduled for August 20 but was postponed due to an alleged sexual assault incident involving two minors in a school in Thane district.

Who Will Be the CM Candidate for MVA?

Responding to questions about whether the CM candidate for MVA would come from Shiv Sena (UBT) or Congress, Pawar said, “No leader from our party is interested in the CM position. We just want to change the government. We want to work together with other MVA allies to provide better administration to the people of the state.”

Pawar emphasized that the focus should be on providing an alternative to the ruling Mahayuti, which includes BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP. He added, “There is no need to raise the issue of the CM candidate now. People want alternatives, and we should focus on how to provide them with those alternatives.”
